Published: 13 July 2022 Español; 中文; 日本語TheGlobal Gender Gap Report, now in its 16th year, benchmarks the evolution of gender-based gaps in four areas: economic participation and opportunity; educational attainment; health and survival; and political empowerment. It also explores the impact of recent global shocks on the growing gender gap crisis in the labour market. Theglobal labor force participation rate for women is just over 50% compared to 80% for men. Women are less likely to work in formal employment and have fewer opportunities for business expansion or career progression. When women do work, they earn less. Emerging evidence from recent household survey data suggests that these gender gaps are GenderInequality. While the overall gender gap has narrowed, the latest figures show the gender pay gap has widened. It will be 257 years before men and women have pay equality. The report finds a 2% increase in the number of women in senior roles, but women’s participation in the labour market is stalling and financial disparities are gjmw0.
